Just Let Me Live My Life!

Just Let Me Live My Life! And do what? If you have not done anything worthy of success, then what can you brag about? Let me answer that for you... NOTHING! All to often people want to give others their opinion, and they have not achieved anything in life noteworthy of giving good opinions. Steve Job once said, “Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”  This is a very profound statement, and one that we all can learn from. We should all know by now that life is what you make it out to be. And if you had any common sense at all (and not all sense is common) then you would be finding out all there is to know about living the successfu...

I'm Still Here...

I'm Still Here... "And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake" ( Mk. 13:13 ) I know without a shadow of a doubt that just as I have been through some very difficult times in my life. Many of you listening can say amen. That you as well have experienced some situations in your life that you did not know how you were going to come out of it. Even now, as I sit here at my desk typing this post with tears running down my face thinking of all the times God has rescued me from my own failings. And I have to shout out, “I’m still here!” I’m still here when all bets were against me to succeed. Those that said I would never amount to anything because of who I was and what I may have done. When I think about those that have gone before me, setting the pace for others to follow their lead. They were over-comers and we too can be over-comers. To be an over-comer, you have to still be here. After all the heartaches and pain, you’re still here. After everyone you thoug...

Stop it!

Stop it! You Can’t Please Them. “We ought to obey God rather than men" ( Acts 5:29 )   A motivational force that drives a person to make decisions based solely on the level of approval they believe they will receive is defined as people-pleasing . Here are some others that are related to people-pleasing; codependency and enabling; now you may not realize this, but within a biblical framework, people-pleasing borders on idolatry. Those that are people-pleasers have learned that it feels good to be liked by others, so in order to get the most approval, they steer their words and actions that direction. People-pleasers, on the surface, appear to be selfless, kind, and generous. However, that is not the case beneath the surface, they are desperately insecure and believe that approval equals value. Eventually they find that trying to please people all the time is not only exhausting, it is impossible. What amazes me most about some people-pleasers is when they start manipu...

Is it Worth Your Life?

Image
Is it Worth Your Life? Today we live in a world of compromise. It’s our way of making exceptions or accommodating for others who do not agree with a prevalent set of rules and standards. Everyday the question is asked of those that are followers of Christ, “Does it really take all that?” and the “all that” they are referring to is living a certain way, giving up certain things, not compromising their walk anymore. In their minds it’s like why can’t you still listen to certain music? Why can’t you curse? All the things a believer has been saved or delivered  from is now being questioned as to why they can’t do them any longer. It’s because now one lives by a set of Biblical standards and rules governed by God. Things I use to do I should have a desire not to do them anymore. Things that were against the teachings of God’s word. That were put in place to help me live a life pleasing to Him.  When it comes to God and His standards, the Bible makes it clear that His st...
